Ana Krizanac: “I can’t wait for CL to start”

Eurohandball.com talks to Ana Krizanac. The new goalkeeper of Kometal talks about her ambitions and expectations.

Kometal will target advancing in the CL againThe Croatian goalkeeper arrived to Skopje to reinforce Kometal. She showed excellent performances already during the preparations period. Krizanac was the best goalkeeper on Vinko Kandija tournament played in Ljubljana where Podravka Vegeta, Krim and Lokomotiva also participated.

Eurohandball.com: Can you tell us how did you start playing handball?

Ana Krizanac: I started in 1995, in the Croatian club Sinj. We were a talented generation and we had great results at an early age already. I would like to emphasise the importance of my first coach, Ante Pavlovic, who contributed to my handball carrier very much.

Eurohandball.com: Which was your most important victory so far?

Ana Krizanac: The European Championship game in Sweden against the home team. That was my first opportunity to play such a big tournament with the Croatian NT, and also because I did well.

Eurohandball.com: You are goalkeeper. Do you have a role model? Who are the best goalkeepers for you?

Ana Krizanac: Croatia has excellent goalkeepers, such as Knezovic, Jelcic or Grubisic. I played with all of them in the national team. I respect the older generation very much, for example Paola Glavas and Andrijana Prosenjak.

Eurohandball.com: You will play for Kometal next season. What do you think about the club and why did you decide to continue your carrier in Skopje?

Ana Krizanac: I signed a 1+1 year contract with Kometal. I’m sure that it was a good choice and that I will enjoy playing together with excellent players and great personalities. I met the coach just before signing the contract; we talked about my role in the team. I’m convinced that we will work together in the best possible way to achieve the club’s goals.

Eurohandball.com: Kometal were drawn to Group A of the CL. What do you think about the opponents and what are your expectations for this season?

Ana Krizanac: This is not an easy group. If we complete good preparations, we should be able to go on to the second round. Zvezda Zvenigorod are favourites, of course. The other teams are also strong, but I believe that we can have a chance against any team, especially at home where we will enjoy the support of our fans. I believe that CL is a big challenge and I’m looking forward to the matches against the best European teams. I’m convinced that we are on the level to compete with the best.
