Gerhard Hrebicek, Executive Director of the European Brand Institute, addressed the guests of the Congress to talk about the importance of brand management in sports.
 

The Handball brand

Brand expert, Dr. Gerhard Hrebicek, was special guest of the 9th Ordinary EHF Congress. The Executive Director of the European Brand Institute, a former handball player himself, returned to talk to the policy makers of European handball after presenting the basics of branding in sports at the Competitions’ Conference in April.

The European Brand Institute, a Vienna-based institution that helps companies evaluate brand values, has analysed the situation in European handball. Mr. Hrebicek pointed out that handball has enormous growth potentials in brand value. He presented the findings of their analysis, four key areas of activity for the stakeholders in Europe. The areas are: market research, brand strategy, brand management and brand lobbying.

Mr. Hrebicek pointed out that intensive work on these four fields should lead to major benefits, such as higher revenues and an increasing brand value.
