“Rinck” Convention Seminar

The 2009 EHF “Rinck” Convention Seminar for Non-signatory Nations will take place at the European Handball Federation Office in Vienna from January 10th – 11th, 2009. The course has been organised in cooperation with the EHF Competence Academy&Network.

Guests and lecturers

Coaching is in the focus of the "Rinck Convention"The seminar was organised for Rinck Convention non-signatory nation representatives who work in coaching education inside their national federations. All together, 10 EHF member federations will be represented on the occasion in Vienna.

Various aspects of coaching education will be presented during the course of the two days of the seminar.

The European football governing body, UEFA, will be represented by one of its lecturers, Mr. Piotr Maranda from Poland, who will talk about the basic idea and concept of the UEFA Coaching Convention.

Lecturers from inside handball will also address the guests. Methods Commission member Wolfgang Pollany and former MC member, EHF Lecturer, Ton van Linder will discuss the basics of the “Rinck” Convention in detail.

Seminar objectives

The event in Vienna has been organised in order to present the idea and the development of the “Rinck” Convention once again to the member federations and to attract more nations to join in.

The EHF MC would like to use the given opportunity to debate new tendencies and directions existing in Europe. In principle the 2009 “Rinck” Convention Seminar for Non–signatory Nations will address matters related to the Rinck Convention structure and present new findings emerging from ENSSEE Forum (European Network of Sport Science, Education and Employment, which works on the EU-wide recognition of coaches’ qualification), as well as their potential consequences. Furthermore, a possible adaptation of the traditional ‘R’C philosophy is foreseen trying to find a more pro-active approach which would allow a more effective accommodation of all member nations’ needs in the future.

About “Rinck” Convention

The objective of this convention is the mutual recognition of standards and certificates in the field of coaches' education in handball in Europe by preserving and safeguarding the regional and national characteristics of coaches' education in order to facilitate the direct admission to work, as a handball coach, in each signatory Member Federation.

This convention has been signed by the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, and Russia in April 2000.

In 2007 the convention consisted of 14 nations (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Sweden) and was enlarged in 2008 by Switzerland.
