Görbicz injured

Győri AUDI ETO, preparing for the Champions League Final 1st leg on Saturday, played a Hungarian League game on Tuesday evening. The opponent was former CL team, FTC.

Görbicz may not be able to play against ViborgIn case of a Győr victory, the players could have celebrated the Hungarian League title with two rounds from the end. In fact, it would have been a strange celebration in front of an empty sports hall. This time no spectators were allowed to visit the game as a punishment for the home club after crowd disturbances at a recent home game of FTC.

At the end of a tight encounter, FTC held Győr to a 28:28 draw and postponed the final victory of Győr. The home team – led by Zácsik and Szucsánszky – never gave it up and came back from a three-goal Győr lead with few minutes from the end.

The best player of Győr was Brazilian Amorim (not eligible to play in the CL) who scored the equaliser at the end.

Serious injury

The worst news for Győr fans, however, was not losing a point in Budapest, but losing Görbicz for an injury. The playmaker of Győr spent only seven minutes on court in the second half of the game when she remained on the floor after a shot. She suffered a seemingly serious knee injury and had to be carried off the playing court.

The extent of the injury will only be known today after further examinations. It is unknown at the moment whether Görbicz can play in the Final of the Champions League.
