EURO inspection in Serbia

Though there are still over two years to go until the beginning of the Men’s EHF EURO 2012, the preparations for the event are ongoing. Between the 15th – 18th September the EHF inspected the venues and hotels for the 2012 Men’s European Handball Championship that will take place in Serbia between the 17 to 29th January 2012.

The stunning new arena in BelgradeThe EHF visited four arenas in three host cities.  These venues are Vrsac – Millenium, Novi Sad – Spens, Belgrade’s Pionir and Beogradska Arenas. The EHF delegation has discussed adaptations required for event purposes with the local organisers in some of the venues.

In addition, the EHF also visited the city of Nis and viewed the plans for a 5th venue called Car Constantin. This hall will be built with the support of various European and national funds including the Serbian Federal Ministry of Sports. The construction is due to start on October 1st 2009 and the Arena is due for completion in 2011.

The final weekend venue will be the recently built Beogradska Arena in Belgrade which can cater to up to 20,000 spectators and features impressive VIP and press facilities.

The Serbian Handball Federation is already making great strides in their progress with organising EHF EURO 2012.
