Nineteen signatory nations of the Rinck Convention met in the Headquarters of the European Handball Federation.

Rinck Convention Seminar in Vienna

The 2009 EHF “Rinck” Convention Seminar for Signatory Nations took place over the past weekend in the EHF Headquarters, Vienna.

The event was organised by the EHF and EHF Competence Academy & Network as part of the 2009 EHF Methods Commission activity plan.

The course participants represented the 19 EHF Rinck Convention signatories: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.

About “Rinck” Convention

A huge step forward has been taken by the EHF in creating a Europe-wide, commonly agreed-upon coaches’ education system in European handball. The RINCK Convention is based on that programme. Facing the growing European Union, the promotion of the mobility of professionals within an expanding open market has to be considered as both an acute matter of interest and discussion.

By means of the RINCK Convention the EHF contributes to the development of quality education by encouraging cooperation between member nations, fully respecting at the same time the responsibility of the nations for the content of teaching and the organisation of education systems and their cultural and linguistic diversity.

The EHF would like to establish incentive actions by promoting cooperation between educational establishments, developing exchanges of information and experiences on issues common to the education systems of the member nations. To reform at national and sectored level, a methodological and conceptual approach is necessary. In coach education, there is a clear need to reaffirm the values enshrined in the coaching code of conduct. There must then be a clear conduit of learning opportunity connecting federation through to global levels of coach education resource. The EHF MC used the opportunity given by the seminar to debate new tendencies and directions existing in Europe.

In principle, the 2009 Rinck Convention Seminar addressed a possible adaptation of the traditional ‘R’C philosophy trying to find a more pro-active approach which would allow a more effective accommodation of all member nations’ needs in the future, including licensing and certification.
