Tragic loss of Serbian handball coach

The European Handball Federation received the shocking news of the death of Zoran Kurtes. The 44-year old Serbian top handball coach died on Friday.

Zoran Kurtes was highly successful throughout his coaching career. He won several national chamapionship titles, three times in Serbia and twice in Romania. He was also coaching in Hungary. At a national team level he was leading Serbia: first as assistant coach, later as head coach at the 2003 World Championship.

His last club was Romanian Champions League participant HCM Constanta that he led to the Last 16 round this season and to a Romanian league title that he celebrated with his team this Thursday.

The European Handball Federation expresses its most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Zoran Kurtes.
