2010 EHF Referee Education Workshop

The 2010 Referee Education Workshop is coming up on 2-4 July in Vienna. The event will be organised by the EHF Competence Academy & Network on the initiative of the EHF Technical Refereeing Committee and the EHF Competitions Commission.

After the 2005 EHF Referees’ and Delegates’ Convention, the European Handball Federation invited all EHF Member Federations again to nominate their chiefs of referees, respectively those responsible for referee education for a common workshop.

The central topic of the workshop will be referee education on a national level. The participants coming from over 40 National Federations will have the chance to discuss matters with their colleagues from all over Europe and finalise the framework concept of the EHF Guidelines for National Referee Education together with the attending EHF CC and TRC members.

Special attention will be paid to the EHF Young Referee Programme as well as recruiting strategies for finding more women’s referee couples.

A special contribution from FIBA Europe on basketball officiating with particular reference to the players’ and coaches’ behaviour will also be part of the workshop as well as explanations to the new IHF Rules of the Game.
