The 10th Ordinary EHF Congress will take place from 24th – 25th September 2010 in Copenhagen, Denmark. All 49 EHF Member Federations plus Kosovo as associated federation of the EHF are registered.
 

 

EHF Ordinary Congress 2010

The 10th Ordinary EHF Congress will take place from 24th – 25th September 2010 in Copenhagen, Denmark. All 49 EHF Member Federations plus Kosovo as associated federation of the EHF are registered.

The European Handball Federation will also welcome honorary guests, including the Danish crown prince and IOC member Frederik of Denmark, the President and Vice President of the International Handball Federation and key EHF partners. Approximately 200 people are expected in Copenhagen for the weekend’s activities.

Thursday, September 23rd

As the participants of the Congress begin to convene in Denmark, the EHF Bodies will hold meetings before the start of the Congress, including the following: Executive Committee, Comptrollers, the European Court of Arbitration, Competitions Commission, Methods Commission, Beach Handball Commission, Arbitration Tribunal, Technical Delegations and the EHF Competence Academy and Network.

Friday, September 24th

Friday will see the first day of the Congress. Tor Lian, President of the EHF, will be chairing the two day event, supported by EHF Vice President Jean Brihault and the EHF Secretary General Michael Wiederer.

The first day will – beside the overall reports of EHF and EHF Marketing – see different reports and following EHF Technical Initiatives:

  • Project Street Handball
  • Infrastructure Project
  • Younger Age Category qualifications
  • Women’s handball promotion
  • Rinck Convention – new structure/relaunch

On this day motions will be tabled by the EHF and Member Federations as the subject of discussion, which will then be voted on by the Member Federations. These include motions relating to the introduction of the Professional Handball Board and to Legal Matters.

Saturday, September 25th

The Congress session on Saturday will also include the awarding of the following events:

Younger Age Category Events (YAC)

  • Men’s 20 European Championships 2012
  • Men’s 18 European Championships 2012
  • Women’s 17 European Championships 2013
  • Women’s 19 European Championships 2013

EHF EURO Events

  • Men’s EHF EURO 2014
  • Women’s EHF EURO 2014

After the awarding, elections of the following committees and boards are to take place: EHF Nations Board, Women’s Club Committee, Women’s National Team Committee, Women’s Club Board, EHF Dispute Resolution Chamber.

Conclusion

The Congress will come to a close with an award ceremony, where awards will be presented to the best ranked nations in 2008 an 2009, and final words by the EHF President. The Member Federations will also be able to use this forum to bring up matters of interest.

Looking forward to a constructive and productive Congress, EHF President Tor Lian said: "We will see over 200 of the highest ranked representatives from European handball circles in Copenhagen this coming weekend. The discussions and decisions will play a considerable role in shaping the European handball model for the coming years. The work and results of the two-day event are of paramount importance."
