The 11th Extraordinary EHF Congress will take place on 29 May 2011 on the occasion of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne, Germany.
 

11th Extraordinary EHF Congress

The 11th Extraordinary EHF Congress will take place on 29 May 2011 on the occasion of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne, Germany. All 49 EHF Member Federations, Member federation applicants Andorra, plus Kosovo as associated federation of the EHF are registered. Approximately 150 people are expected in Cologne for the weekend’s activities.

As the participants of the Congress begin to assemble in Germany, the EHF Finance Delegation and the EHF Marketing Advisory Board will hold meetings prior to the start of the Congress.

Saturday, 28 May 2011

The day is dedicated to the start of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 and no meetings are planned. Elected members of the EHF Executive Committee will attend the opening press conference and the Signing of the Golden Book of the City of Cologne; after the required accreditation, the Congress participants will attend the matches of the VELUX EHF Champions League.

On Sunday the EHF Congress will convene between 09:00 and 12:00 hrs. Tor Lian, President of the EHF and Vice President Jean Brihault will co-chair the event. They will be supported by EHF Secretary General Michael Wiederer.

After the official opening and welcome, followed by formal procedures; motions will be tabled by the EHF and the Austrian Handball Federation. Respecting democratic processes, all motions will be discussed and voted on by all 49 Member Federations. The motions, which include legal matters, relate to the amendment of the EHF Statutes and Regulations.

Furthermore, elections are also on the Congress agenda; two elections are to take place. One member, replacing Alenka Cuderman (SLO) will be appointed by vote to the EHF Arbitration Tribunal, which as of 01 July 2011 is to be renamed EHF Court of Handball. The new second legal instance, the EHF Court of Appeal will consist of a President, Vice President and 5 Members. The nomination of eight candidates has been approved by the respective National Federations. All appointments to the newly founded EHF Court of Appeal (COA) will be determined by vote on this day.

The final points on the agenda of the 11th Extraordinary EHF Congress include the interim reports on the Professional Handball Board (PHB) and the Women’s Handball Programme given to the member federations.

Following the presentation of the interim report to the Congress, the 3rd meeting of the Professional Handball Board (PHB) will be held in Cologne.

A summary of the day’s events will be sent electronically at the close of Congress; concentrated reporting, including all the news plus interviews will keep the European handball community informed of all development on this very special weekend, that bring the eighteenth EHF handball season to its official close.
