The final tournament of the XX Women’s Handball World championship 2011 takes place between 03 and 18 December 2011 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Twelve places are reserved for European teams, with Russia, as current world champions and the teams ranked first, second and third from the EHF EURO 2010 – Norway, Sweden and Romania – all qualified directly.

The remaining eight places will be given to the winners of their play-off games with the duels will be decided with a knock-out in a home and an away game.

The second legs take place from 10-12 June and you can watch the action on television via a number of host broadcasters, click HERE for the latest TV information.

13 of the 24 nations for the 2011 Women’s World Championship are known already as alongside Russia, Norway, Sweden and Romania, Angola, Congo and Tunisia from Africa, Korea, Japan, China and Kazakhstan from Asia, Australia from Oceania and Brazil as hosting nation have already booked their places for the tournament.

Three countries in the Americas will aim to qualify through the Pan American Championships, which will be held from 28 June to 02 July 2011.
