A weekend of tough games will see who qualifies for Brazil 2011.

The final tournament of the XX Women’s Handball World championship 2011 will take place between 03 and 18 December 2011, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

12 places are reserved for European teams, including defending champions Russia.  The teams ranked first, second and third from the EHF EURO 2010 – Norway, Sweden and Romania – have qualified directly alongside Russia themselves.

The other eight places will be given to the winners of their play-off games.

The duels will be decided with a knock-out in a home and an away leg, the first round of these legs have been completed and the second round will take place this weekend. Teams will progress if they win the tie over two legs.

If, after completion of the two legs (without extra time), both teams have gained the same number of points, the team will be ranked according to:

a) Goal difference

b) Greater number of goals in the away match

c) Penalty throws
