2011 EHF Lecturers Seminar
«Go back »Print Version

Education and Training are the core activities of the EHF Technical Bodies.

2011 EHF Lecturers Seminar - EHF competence Academy & Network (CAN)

Last weekend saw the 5th EHF Lecturers Seminar in Vienna, following the first event in 1994 in AUT, 1996 in TUR and 2005 and 2009 in AUT.

The EHF Lecturer system brings together all the European handball specialists who support the EHF to produce various publications with the aim of discussing and clarifying handball related questions.

It also supports and conducts national and regional EHF technical courses to create a common voice across all EHF educational activities and to set the standard in the fields of presentation and practical exercises.

The 2011 EHF Lecturers Seminar saw additional points of discussion including the EHF Lecturers’ Manual, Curricula of EHF educational and further educational courses, EHF education activities and Street Handball.

All EHF lecturers in the fields of refereeing, coaching and Beach Handball were invited to attend the weekend course which was opened by Frantisek Taborsky, the EHF Methods Commission Chairman.

Friday saw the delegates arrive in Vienna and attend a welcome dinner, before the real work started on Saturday with the EHF curricula for education and further education, an introduction to the Lecturers’ Manual, a guide to the EHF Web Portal and an overview of the EHF education activities.

Later on a practical training session took place which included Beach Handball elements, training for referees and Street Handball.

Sunday was split into referee, coaching and Beach Handball lectures with a look ahead to the next 10 years, before the weekend ended on three different sessions for referee, coaching and Beach Handball lecturers.

All participants were handed a pack which included RINCK Convention (2010 Edition), EHF Lecturers’ Manual (2011 Edition) on CD and the 2011 EHF Guidelines for Referee Education.

Helmut Höritsch, Senior Manager EHF CAN, said:

“That was probably the best EHF Lecturers Course ever with a group of very ambitious and enthusiastic experts working eagerly in their technical areas of competence as EHF ambassadors and facilitators all over Europe.

“Some of their visions for the future of handball, as well as their proposals for supporting developing nations at grassroots level or top nations on top handball level, are really great.

“In cooperation with EHF CAN they are responsible for producing up-to-date analytical expertise as well as producing high quality teaching aids that are available on the EHF website for all handball friends and specialists in Europe!”
