Malta Handball Association plays host to EHF Executive Committee meeting.

The European Handball Federation’s Executive Committee will hold its 105th meeting on the island of Malta on 17 and 18 June 2011 at the invitation of the Malta Handball Federation.

The meeting, which tradionally falls at the end of the season, will look ahead to the 2011/12 season with a number of important decisions relating to EHF competitions; including the allocation of places for the VELUX EHF Champions League and EHF Women’s Champions League as well as the four participants of the VELUX EHF Champions League Wildcard tournament.

Ahead of the start of the meeting, EHF President, Tor Lian, EHF Vice President, Jean Brihault, and EHF Secretary General, Michael Wiederer, met with President of the Malta Handball Federation, Louis Borg, and the Association's Vice President, Clyde Borg Conti.

An agreement to support the further development of handball on the island, through the EHF’s SMART Programme was signed. This will see the EHF providing handball equipment, lecturers for coaching and refereeing courses and technical support for the national team. Also discussed was the organisation of the IHF/EHF Challenge Trophy, which will take place in Malta from 4 – 6 November 2011.
