At the meeting, the EHF Executive reviewed reached a number of decisions relating to the new season 2011/12 and beyond.

These decision included the future awarding of the VELUX EHF FINAL4, the line-up of the EHF Champions League for the coming season and the awarded of the four Wildcard places in the VELUX EHF Champions League.

The EHF Executive Committee also discussed and dealt with the following issues:

Approval of places in new European Cup competition

Following the approval by the EHF Executive Committee of the merger of the two men’s competitions, EHF Cup and Cup Winners' Cup, from the season 2012/13, at its last meeting in Vienna on 8/9 April 2011, the Executive now dealt with the allocation of places in the new competition.

The EHF Executive decided to approve a proposal from the EHF Competitions Commission, following support from the Professional Handball Board at its meeting in Cologne on Monday 30 May 2011.

Full details of the allocation of places in the new European Cup competition will be communicated to member nations and published in the next week at eurohandball.com.

New IHF transfer regulations

The EHF Executive Committee dealt with the new "Regulations for Transfer between Federations" agreed by the IHF Congress in Marrakech in May 2011, which come in to force from 1 July 2011.

As player transfers within Europe are handled by the EHF, further details on procedures within the new system will be communicated by the EHF to member nations following receipt of information from the IHF.

Cross-border Leagues

The issue of cross-border leagues was discussed by the EHF Executive, and in particular the planned leagues in the Baltic and Benelux countries as well as South East Europe. The consensus of the meeting was that further clarfication on a number of points in relation to the proposed new leagues would be required.

Insurance for injured players

It was agreed that a fund system would be used for these championships for those players who are unable to play for an extended time due to injuries sustained whilst playing for the national team.

It was also agreed that the system would be further examined with a view to integrating this system into European qualification phases.
