55 coaches from across the world took part in the four day course with representatives from Luxembourg, USA, India, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Slovakia, Portugal, Ireland, Finland, Italy, Poland, England and Lithuania in attendance with the course focussing on ‘Breaking Down Fences’.

Wolfgang Pollany (Member of the EHF Methods Commission), Paul Landure (EHF Lecturer), Martin Tuma (EHF Lecturer), Dimitri Huygen (Sports Video Analysis System (VAS)) and Sandor Andorka (Member of the EHF Competition Commission) all presented to those gathered both in classroom-based and sports hall-based practical sessions.

Some of the subjects covered included; ‘Fences - Obstacles or Protection?’, ‘Basics of Decision Making’, ‘Development of Power’ and ‘Fair Play’, all of which ran alongside practical work including tactics relating to attack, defence and goalkeeping inside the Sportshall Brno Bohunice with the Czech Republic Women’s U19 team.

Alternative activities also took place working towards the development of key core skills in young handball players such as balance, coordination and flexibility as well as a presentation of the Sport VAS system, which monitors and analyses players through video technology.

The course finished with a closing speech by Frantisek Toborsky, Chairman, EHF Methods Commission who handed out course completion certificates. Following this, all those present then went to the Sports Hall Vodova to watch the W17 European Championship Final between Russia and Denmark.

A Youth Coaches Course is planned for 2012, with more information available in due course HERE.
