At least five European teams guaranteed to be in Quarter-Finals.
 

Spain, Norway and Russia through to World Championship Quarter-Finals

Three European teams have progressed from the Eight Final of the 2011 Women's World Championships in Brazil in the first set of matches played on Sunday 11 December.

Current holders of the title, Russia, beat Iceland 30:19 and were in dominant form, limiting the World Championship newcomers to just seven goals in the second half.

Norway beat the Netherlands 34:22 with Heidi Loke top scoring with eight strikes, whilst Spain beat Montenegro 23:19. In the other game played, Angola beat South Korea 30:29.

Norway, Spain, Russia and Angola now progress through to the Quarter-Final stage to be played on Wednesday 14 December in Sao Paulo with games throwing off at 11:45, 14:30, 17:15 and 20:00 local time.

Awaiting those teams will be the winners of the matches taking place on Monday 12 December which will see the final four matches in the Eight Final round take place:

Sweden vs. France

Romania vs. Croatia

Denmark vs. Japan

Brazil vs. Ivory Coast

Meanwhile, in the Presidents Cup, to determine the lower rankings, Germany beat Kazakhstan 37:14 and will face Tunisia on Monday 12 December.
