The EHF headquarters hosted a meeting of the EHF Executive on 12 and 13 April 2012.
 

EHF Executive meets in Vienna

The EHF Executive met on 12/13 April 2012 in Vienna, Austria. The meeting was chaired by the Vice President, Jean Brihault, with the EHF President, Tor Lain, attending a meeting of the European Olympic Committee in Moscow.

Reports from the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary General were dealt with. Michael Wiederer, EHF Secretary General, reporting on the work of the EHF Office, the implementation of the new EHF logo, the re-development of the EHF websites and the upcoming Secretaries General Conference to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark on 19 and 20 April 2012.

The financial report for the year 2011 was approved for presentation to the Congress, following external auditing and checks by the EHF Comptollers. Reports of the technical commissions as well as the Nations Board and Professional Handball Board were also discussed.

The Executive noted the success of the EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia, with new record number of spectators, TV viewers worldwide thanks in large part to the close and exciting matches throughout the event. The technical services provided at the event by the EHF were also noted as contributing to the success of the event.

The upcoming EHF EURO in the Netherlands was discussed, and the meeting agreed to a number of measures to ensure the organisation of a successful event. A new three-venue concept and a revised playing schedule, with the event running from 4 to 16 December 2012 were approved. A series of workshop will also be held in the next few months with the organisers.

Furthermore the meeting agreed a number of organisational proposals relating to club competitions including the EHF Champions League and new EHF Cup.

A main focus of the meeting were the preparations for the 11th Ordinary EHF Congress to be held on 22 and 23 June 2012 in Monte Carlo / Monaco. The agenda was approved as was the list of nominations for election from the member federations and the EHF Executive. This list has been distributed to member federations. Further information regarding the Congress will be sent to the member federations on 23 April 2012.
