Wildcard teams named

The EHF has named five teams that have been put forward by their national federations for a Wildcard place in the VELUX EHF Champions League 2012/13 Group Phase.

Deadline for entries for teams to the VELUX EHF Champions League was Monday, 11 June 2012.

The EHF received the following requests for a Wildcard entry to the competition:

Bjerringbro-Silkeborg, DEN (ranked second in the Danish league)
Saint-Raphael Var Handball, FRA (ranked third in the French league)
HSV Hamburg, GER (ranked fourth in the German league)
Orlen Wisla Plock, POL (ranked second in the Polish league)

RK Cimos Koper, SLO (ranked third in the Slovenian league)

The EHF Executive will make a decision on the Wildcard Tournament at its meeting in Monaco on Thursday, 21 June 2012 ahead of the start of the EHF Congress. Only four places are available in the Tournament. An organiser will be selected in a separate procedure.

First draws of the season in July

Entry requests to the VELUX EHF Champions League for the upcoming season are now being assessed and a complete list of all participating teams will be announced following its approval by the EHF Executive at its meeting in Monaco.

The draw for the Qualification Tournaments for the VELUX EHF Champions League and Women’s EHF Champions League will be held in Vienna on Tuesday, 3 July 2012.

The draw for the VELUX EHF Champions League Group Phase and Women’s EHF Champions League Group Matches will take place at the headquarters of adidas, in Herzogenaurach, Germany on Friday, 6 July 2012.
