Motions to Congress

The second day of 11th EHF Congress in Monaco saw several motions presentations, discussions and votes.

EHF Anti-doping Unit

In accordance with the rules of the main international bodies fighting against the doping in the sport the EHF Congress has adopted a motion to create a new EHF Anti-doping Unit (EAU).

The motion received 47 votes (94 percent) and will be effective as of 1 July 2012.

It will be handling the field of anti-doping within the EHF in the spirit of the Olympic Movement and working closely together with the World Anti-doping Agency and the International Handball Federation.

The professional body consisting of a chairperson and office staff member nominated by the EHF Executive Committee will be responsible for the arrangement and carrying out of controls, the creation of awareness for non-intentional doping, the education and information process for young athletes, the coordination with national anti-doping agencies in Europe, the handling of therapeutic exemptions and more anti-doping measures.

Advertisement rights motion

The EHF Congress also adopted a motion of the Swedish Handball Federation to give the federations more rights to sell advertising on shirt sleeves during EHF EURO events. The motion dealt with the EHF right to market a centralised advertisement of the sleeves of shirts at the European Championships. With 25 votes in favour and 21 votes against the EHF Congress adopted the motion, subject to existing contract arrangements.

Transfer fees for amateur players

The Congress dealt with the transfer fees for amateur and professional players following a motion from the German Handball Federation and agreed that the EHF would present a motion to the next IHF Congress in Doha, Qatar in August 2013.
