AG København declared bankrupt

After all they achieved in the VELUX EHF FINAL4 last season, the club AG København now has gone bankrupt according to the press releases and statements given by the club responsibles.

To the developments, EHF Secretary General Michael Wiederer said, “With much regret, we took note of the decision; in a short time, AG København had climbed to the top of club handball. Independent of this individual case, the European Handball Federation must work on a solution to the general situation in particular concerning the ownership and finances of clubs, especially Champions League club in order to preserve the product. The solution will be a joint effort between the EHF and EHF Marketing.”

The EHF will now analyze this situation concerning the VELUX EHF Champions League in close contact with the Danish Handball Federation (DHF). Information concerning the legal aspects and sporting consequences will be published on Thursday.
