Hungary to host the 2013 Men’s Youth World Championship

At their meeting on the fringes of the London Olympic Games, the IHF Council decided that Hungary will be the host of the 2013 Men’s Youth World Championship.

20 teams will compete from 7 to 18 August in the cities of Budaörs (Budaörs City Sports Hall) and Erd (Erd City Sports Hall). Both cities are in the Budapest metropolitan area, in a 15 to 20 kilometre distance from the capital’s centre.

The playing system will be identical to the 2011 Men’s Youth World Championship organised in Argentina:

Day 1-6: Preliminary round matches in 4 groups of 5 teams. The two first ranked team of each group qualify for the quarter-finals.

Day 7 Rest day

Day 8 Quarter-finals and placement matches for 9th-20th places

Day 9 Semi-finals and placement matches 5th-20th places

Day 10 Rest day

Day 11 Final and matches for the 3rd, 5th, 7th places
