Lovćen sign national team player Stevan Vujović

Lovćen have signed the fourth and the most important reinforcement this summer – the Montenegrin international central back Stevan Vujović signed a one year contract with Lovćen.

Vujović returns to his home town but not to his original club. He began his career in 2007 in the small club Capelin from Cetinje. Later in his career, the central back played for Vardar Skoplje, Serbian Red Star Belgrade, Spanish Antequera and last season again for Vardar Skopje. The VELUX EHF Champions League Qualification Tournament and the upcoming World Championship in Spain were the main motivations to accept the bid of Lovćen.

"Although I planned to play abroad in a stronger league at a stronger club, the financial crisis forced me to come back to Montenegro. But it is my pleasure to help Lovćen. I think it’s a good opportunity to get a good preparation and to be in a good shape for the World Championship in January," said Stevan Vujović.

Lovćen participates in a VELUX EHF Champions League Qualification Tournament which will be staged on 8 and 9 September in Belgrade. The team from Cetinje will face RK Sloga (BIH) in the semi-final. In the other semi-final RK Partizan (SRB) meet FC Porto Vitalis (POR).

Vujović added that Lovćen will go for a place in VELUX EHF Champions League: "I have no accurate information about Porto Vitalis and Partizan as they are still completing their squads. However Sloga got two or three new but experienced players. I think all four teams are more or less equal. The team who fights the most will make it to the VELUX EHF Champions League,” concluded Vujović.

Lovćen already signed goalkeeper Zlatko Daskalovski, central back Bogdan Nikolić and line player Ivan Radović.
