Anita Bulath joins Viborg

The three-times winners of the Women´s EHF Champions League Viborg HK have signed a contract valid for the rest of this season with Hungarian international Anita Bulath.

For a month the Danish last season´s runners-up have been looking for a new right back, after Grit Jurack ended her career shortly before the start of the season, and Amanda Kurtovic sustained a serious shoulder injury in a test match just before the start of the league season.

With financial help from sponsors and fans, the club has now been able to close a deal with Anita Bulath, and the 29 year old right back is expected to have her first appearance for the Central Jutland side already in Wednesday night´s top match in the Danish league against FC Midtjylland.

“With Anita Bulath we get a player with international experience from several European top clubs and leagues as well as from a lot of matches in the Hungarian national team, and a player who can cover the right back position in the defence as well as in the attack,” Viborg HK´s sports director Susanne Munk Wilbek told the club´s website.

Anita Bulath is no stranger to Danish handball, as she has a past career in FCK Håndbold, and her family in law lives in Denmark. Those facts have also played a part in Viborg´s wish to attach her to their team.

“It has been important for us to find a player who had the best possible chances to get adjusted to the Danish system and to Danish culture in a hurry, and considering Anita´s background and the bonds she has to Denmark already, we must say that we have found such a player,” Munk Wilbek added.

Anita Bulath´s latest club was Croatian top cub Podravka Vegeta. In the 2010/11 season she played in the top continental club competition for Hungarian side DVSC Kortex Debrecen (pictured).

Viborg previously considered the signing of Dijana Števin, but after training with the squad for two days the club send the Serbian right back home without a contract.
