Larvik take 13th Norwegian Cup title

Larvik HK won the women´s Cup in Norway for the 13th time in history, as the EHF Champions League participants defeated Stabæk 31:26 in the final in front of 3,679 spectators in the Oslo Spektrum.

However, Larvik, who will be meeting Oltchim Vâlcea, Randers HK and Györi Audi ETO KC in Group 1 of the the Women´s EHF Champions League Main Round later in the spring season, had to fight really hard to take the title. After a 14:10 lead for Larvik at half time, Stabæk got back into the game and put the favourites under pressure until the middle of the second half. Until this point, the gap between the two teams was only two goals, but at the end Larvik managed to take a deciding distance.

Linn Jørum Sulland was Larvik´s most scoring player with nine goals, while her national team-mate Stine Breidal Oftedal scored eight for Stabæk. “Actually, I think Stabæk played really well, and our win was not secured until the very end of the match,” the Larvik´s right back Sulland said to Norwegian TV station NRK. “I think we played a really good game, and therefore the defeat was quite bitter,” the Stabæk´s goalkeeper Silje Solberg said to Norwegian TV2.

At the same event, Fyllingen Bergen qualified for the Cup Winners´s Cup next season by defeating current EHF Cup participants Elverum 22:19 in the men´s Cup final. This was Fyllingen´s first Norwegian Cup win ever.
