Ševaljević: "Signing with Hannover-Burgdorf was right for me"

Minsk star set to move to the German Bundesliga

Ševaljević: "Signing with Hannover-Burgdorf was right for me"

Montenegrin left back Vasko Ševaljević is the second reinforcement from the Balkans, after Slovenian Borut Mackovsek from Pivovarna Lasko Celje, for German club TSV Hannover-Burgdorf.

Ševaljević, currently with Belarusian champion HC Dinamo Minsk, signed a two year contract with the team currently sixth in the German Bundesliga.

“The interest from TSV Hannover-Burgdorf for me existed well before the signature, but when I received a concrete offer, I didn’t think too much, it was an easy decision.

”I knew it was the right thing for me and we agreed without a problem,” Ševaljević told ehfCL.com.

Ševaljević is very happy with his new team and playing in one of the strongest leagues in the world.

“It's definitely a good and right decision for me and a big step forward in my career.

“We all know what it means for a relatively young player to come and play in the Bundesliga, how significant it is,” Ševaljević added.

Germany will be third foreign experience for Ševaljević.

Before Dinamo Minsk, where he arrived last summer, he played two seasons in Spain, for Amaya Sport San Antonio.

The Montenegrin’s domestic clubs were in Kotor, where he began his career, and Lovćen.

“Regarding my new club, I've heard only superlative things, about the coach, the club organization, the city of Hannover.

“Somehow it all coincided very well and as I've always wanted. This was the right thing for me at the right moment.

“They are currently on sixth place in the Bundesliga and it’s likely they will stay on that position, which would mean playing in the European Cups next year.

“According to my information, they have only changed three players so far, so it’s obvious that the team will remain almost the same.

“Whatever the goal will be set, I will do all my best to justify the expectations and trust of the people in the club,” said Ševaljević.

The 24-year-old had a very good VELUX EHF Champions League season with Dinamo, scoring 53 goals in the competition, as the club made it to the Last 16 for the first time in the clubs history.

The Montenegrin left back scored 53 goals, one less that team’s top scorer, Russian Pavel Atman.

“As for Dinamo, I can only say positive things. I have adapted and integrated very quickly into the team.

“Of course, the reason of all that is that Dinamo is a club with very good people, very stable and well organised. I am sure that whoever comes to this club will not regret it.

“Minsk is the place where you live a happy life, where you play top handball, which we proved this year in the Champions League,” explained the Montenegrin.

After Dinamo were eliminated in the Last 16 against HC Metalurg, the teams have concentrated fully on domestic competitions.

“We complicated things a little with one defeat and a draw in the Belarus championship.

“So we have four games of great importance ahead, against direct competitors for the championship title and cup.

“Everything will be resolved at the end of May, which means we have plenty of time to get ready and we've only concentrated on that.

“I can safely say that I will remain professional until the end and try to do my part to achieve these two objectives of the club, which are winning the title and the cup.

“For Dinamo the championship title has great importance, because this is a club that wants to play in the Champions League every year and always creates a team to do so.

“Therefore, we should justify the expectations of the club leaders,” Ševaljević concluded for ehfCL.com.
