700 players and 45 teams from 14 nations to compete in European Masters Championship in Brixen/Bressanone
 

Italy hosts European Masters Championships

The city of Brixen/Bressanone in the South-Tyrol region of Italy is all set to host the ninth edition of the European Masters Handball Championship on 14, 15 and 16 June 2013.

Hundreds of handball players aged 33 and above will descend on the city to compete over three days.

The will play in five different age categories 35+, 45+ and 50+ categories for men and 33+ and 43+ for women. The complete schedule can be found on the event’s official website

Competing will be teams from Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Ukraine will take part.

The event will open on Thursday, 13 June with an party in the city’s Domplatz. Matches will be played in four sports halls, with the finals and prize giving in the Sportzone Süd sports hall on Sunday from 15:00 hrs.

The spirit of the European Masters Handball Championship (EMHC) is to meet old sports friends and to have fun. The European Handball Federation aims to offer a handball event to former players, thus combining competition and social aspects while athletes play their favourite sport.

The underlying idea of the masters sports movement is to give all interested players the possibility to participate, therefore opening the EMHC to all players and teams.
