Ninth EHF European Masters Championship completed in Italy
 

European masters champions crowned in Brixen

After three days of intense handball involving 115 matches, 45 teams and 700 players, the European Championships for masters players has been completed.

Brixen/Bressanone, Italy played host to the event over the weekend 14, 15 and 16 June 2013, and welcomed handball players from 14 nations in age categories 33 years and above.

The event brought together club players as well as top players from the international scene.

Russia's team in the 35+ category boasted two former top-stars for example.

Alexey Kostigov, best goalkeeper in the 35+ category, bronze medal winner with Russia at the 2004 Olympic Games, who played in the EHF Champions League as recently as the 2011/12 season with St Petersburg.

His team mate, Lev Voronin, best player in the 35+ category, has an Olympic gold medal to his name, having won with the Russian national team at the 2000 Games in Sydney.
