100 reasons to visit the Men’s EHF EURO 2014 in Denmark - Part 7

We are rapidly approaching the throw-off for the 2014 Men's EHF European Championship in Denmark.

From 12 to 26 January next year 16 European teams will show the very best handball has on offer in their quest for the sport's European throne.

With the event reaching the 100-days-to-go-mark in the first week of October and to whet the fans' appetite, eurohandball.com has started publishing 100 reasons why you should not miss out on this highlight of the 2014 handball calendar.

The reasons will be published in groups of 10 over the coming days and every day one reason will also be published on the event's official Facebook page.

While some are truly sports-based, some have to be read tongue-in-cheek, but overall they will give a picture why the 2014 European Championship is worth a visit.

For anyone who can't wait to be part of the Men's EHF EURO 2014, tickets are just a click away.

Here come reasons 61 to 70 why you should not miss out on the Men's EHF EURO 2014:

Reason 61: To find out whether the current world champions from Spain can become the first country to hold both the world and European men’s title after France achieved that feat in 2010 (world chamipions 2009, EHF EURO champions 2010).

Reason 62: To check out if the venues in Herning, Aalborg and Aarhus are also a good fit for a Men’s EHF EURO after they already hosted matches of the Women’s EHF EURO 2010.

Reason 63: To have a look at two coaching masterminds who have already won the full cabinet of gold medals at major events, i.e. European and World Championships and Olympic Games.

Danish head coach Ulrik Wilbek won gold with the Danish women's team at the 1996 Olympic Games and the World Championship 1997, with the Danish men's team he topped the EHF EURO podium in 2008 and 2008.

France's Claude Onesta (pictured below) led the men's team to Olympic gold in 2008 and 2012, World Championship gold in 2009 and 2011 and EHF EURO gold in 2010.

Reason 64: To enjoy the famous Danish hospitality.

Reason 65: To see some of the Most Valuable Players of previous EHF EURO events like Filip Jicha (CZE, 2010) or Momir Ilic (SRB, 2012) taking to the court.

Reason 66: To evaluate the performances of 12 referee pairs from who will come to Denmark from all over Europe to officiate the matches.

Reason 67: To meet a large number of former handball legends, who have by now become TV experts like Swede Magnus Wislander.

Reason 68: To find out whether there are any German spectators coming across the border to Denmark although their own team did not qualify.

Reason 69: To admire the prowess of the only Caribbean-born player at the EHF EURO: Raul Santos was born in the Dominican Republic, but moved to Austria as a child and now plays for the national team.

Reason 70: To find out what are the greatest souvenirs from Denmark.

To read more why you should not miss the EHF EURO, find reasons 1 to 10 here, reasons 11 to 20 here, reasons 21 to 30 here, reasons 31 to 40 here, reasons 41 to 50 here and reasons 51 to 60 here.

Reasons 71 to 80 will be published on Tuesday, 29 October - stay tuned for more.
