Direct qualification and play-off places available for teams playing at EHF EURO 2014
EHF EURO 2014: Qualification for 2015 World Championship
As EHF EURO 2014 throws off in Denmark, the EHF has released a clarification on the all-important qualification of teams to the Men’s IHF World Championship, which will take place in Qatar from 17 January to 2 February 2015.
The three best-ranked teams from EHF EURO will qualify directly to Qatar 2015, alongside Spain as the defending world champions.
18 teams will play in the play-off matches for Europe’s remaining nine places at the World Championships.
After the three best-ranked direct qualifying teams, twelve teams further will go forward to qualification from EHF EURO 2014.
Nine teams will go to Pot 1, assuming Spain qualify for the Main Round, the ninth team will be the best-ranked fourth placed teams in the EHF EURO Preliminary Round.
The last-ranked three teams at EHF EURO 2014 will go to Pot 2 alongside Germany and the five winners of qualification.
The draw for 2015 World Championship Play-off Europe will take place on Sunday, 26 January 2014 at 13:00 hrs in the Press Conference room in Jyske Bank Boxen Arena.
