Esbjerg do not feel safe yet

Even after a 28:21 away win against DHK Banik Most last weekend, Lars Frederiksen, head coach by Team Esbjerg does not feel one hundred per cent sure that his team will qualify for the quarter-final in the EHF Cup ahead of the second leg against the Czech team in Blue Water Dokken in Esbjerg Sunday afternoon.

“They are absolutely not a bad team, and they are particularly strong in the defence. We played a really good game down there and won by running a lot with them. However, I expect them to come with an even heavier pressure this time, and we will have to be prepared for that. However, with a seven goal lead, we obviously should be able to reach the quarter-final,” Lars Frederiksen told eurohandball.com.

While Esbjerg are heading for the quarter-finals, to Russian teams are already there. In two double headers last weekend, Lada and Astrakhanochka qualified through aggregate wins against the Spanish teams Rocasa Ace Gran Canaria and Elche C. F. –Mustang.

Romania should also be pretty sure to be represented among in the quarter-finals, as U Jolidon Cluj are receiving Cankaya Bel. Anka Spor K. Sunday evening with a 34:22 lead from the first leg in Turkey.

København Håndbold are also favourites to reach the last eight when they welcome Frisch Auf Göppingen in Frederiksberghallen in Copenhagen Sunday afternoon.

The Danish team are three goals up after winning 25:22 in Germany, but Frisch Auf find some hope in their relatively fine comeback in the first match, where they managed to reduce the deficit after having been down 17:10 at half time.

The Hungarian encounter between Ipress Center-Vac and Fehérvár KC seem open after Fehérvar´s 22:19 home win last weekend, while the last two tie also are completely open, as they are both double headers.

In Slovakia, IUVENTA Michalovce are receiving TSV Bayer Leverkusen who could celebrate qualifying for the German championship play-offs Wednesday night, and in Russia, Dinamo Volgograd are taking on Skuru IK from Sweden.
