Michalovce, Vise, Salerno and Karpaty make early progress

IUVENTA Michalovce from Slovakia, Femina Vise from Belgium, HC Karpatiy from Ukraine and Italian Jomi Salerno are already through to the third round, after they made it all clear in double headers this weekend.

Michalovce made it clear already in the first of their two home games against KHF Kastrioti from Kosovo. The Slovakian hosts won as clearly as 44:14 in the Saturday game, meaning their 31:20 win Sunday pales in comparison.

Speaking of clear wins, nothing in this round can be compared to HC Karpaty’s elimination of Olympia HC.

In the first leg of their double header at home against the team from London, Karpaty won as big as 39:10, but the huge win did not make the Ukrainian team relax in the second leg Sunday. On the contrary, Karpaty improved to 38:6 the following day.

Former Champions League participants Femina Vise are also in the next round, but things did not turn out as easy for the Belgian team as they might have expected before their trip to the Faroe Islands for the meeting with Kyndil Torshavn.

After a 22:15 win for Vise Saturday, Torshavn actually won the second match Sunday 21:20, but they were still pretty far from threatening the visitors’ aggregate win.

Jomi Salerno, who took part in the qualification tournament for the Women´s EHF Champions League last season, had their trouble in the first of the two home matches against IBV from Iceland.

The first half ended 14:14, before Salerno managed to land a 27:24 win.

However, things went much smoother for the Italian team on Saturday. This time their win was as clear as 34:25 and all doubt about the ticket for the third round was eliminated.

Three of the four remaining four ties of this round are all going to be decided in second legs next weekend which also contains a further double header as SPONO Notttwill from Switzerland face Bnei Hertzeliya from Israel.
