2013 winners with great respect for Turkish newcomers

Only one of the four teams in the semi-finals of the Women's EHF Cup have won the competition before.

Team Tvis Holstebro won the tournament in the 2012/13 season and the Danish club would obviously like to repeat that triumph before head coach Niels Agesen and some of the key players leave the team at the end of the season.

Their opponents will be Muratpasa Belediye SK, whose finest European achievements so far have been reaching the final of the Challenge Cup in 2011 and 2012.

Although Holstebro appear to be favourites, their left wing, Danish international Ann Grete Norgaard has great respect for the Turkish opponents ahead of the first meeting in Isparta, Turkey at 13:00 CET on Saturday afternoon live on ehfTV.

"We do not know much about them, but they sent Buxtehude out in the quarter-final and that calls for respect. We have some video of them, but not of the match, in which they defeated Buxtehude by ten and in which I heard they played really well.

"I am sure that we will be under pressure in the first match, as they have a very noisy and enthusiastic home crowd. But we still aim to win the away match as well. However, I am glad that we have the second leg at home.

"We are prepared for their physical strength, but I hope and believe that we can produce enough speed against them to win," Ann Grete Norgaard tells eurohandball.com.

Holstebro is not Danish handball's only chance of representation in the final.

The Danish coach Jan Leslie is in charge of Russian Rostov-Don who that have never been any further than the semi-final of the Cup Winners' Cup in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 season, but who have more or less swept all opposition aside in the EHF Cup this season.

In the quarter-final, Rostov-Don defeated another Russian team Astrakhankochka, 64:35 in aggregate, and are now ready for ÉRD HC in the semi-final.

The Hungarian team sent last year's finalists Esbjerg out of the quarter-finals, but have never made it any further than the Last 16 of the Cup Winners' Cup last season in Europe, so they have already produced their finest European accomplishment so far.

However, ÉRD are probably not going to be content with what they have already achieved, but will obviously try to reach the final as well. ÉRD play at home in the first leg on Easter Sunday at 16:30 CET live on ehfTV.
