Holstebro and Rostov-Don likely to pick up final tickets

Team Tvis Holstebro really would need a stroke of bad luck not to proceed to the final of the Women’s EHF Cup as they lead by 13 goals ahead of their second leg match against Muratpasa. Rostov-Don also head for the final as they take a four-goal advantage to their home match against ÉRD HC.

Having won 38:25 in Turkey last weekend, there is not really that much at stake for Team Tvis Holstebro before taking on Muratpasa Belediye SK for the return match in the semi-final in the Graakjaer Arena of Holstebro on Sunday at 13:00 hrs local time.

Taking nothing for granted

Still Holstebro’s coach Niels Agensen will not take the return match lightly as he remembers his team losing by 12 goals away in the quarter-final against Issy Paris after winning by 13 in the first leg at home.

“We have learned from the quarter-final against Paris and we are not going to throw this away. As a team, we are at the peak right now.  It is a question of winning the return match and avoiding injuries,” said Niels Agesen ahead of the match.

While Holstebro, who won the EHF Cup in 2013, are practically in the final, Rostov-Don are close to following them.

The Russian team are four goals up against their Hungarian adversaries ÉRH HC after their 28:24 victory in the first match in Hungary.

Their win in the first leg could even have been even bigger, as Rostov-Don were leading by six goals in the first half, before the home team managed to reduce the deficit in the last 30 minutes.

Still, the four goal lead is enough to make Danish coach Jan Leslie's ladies favourites ahead of the return match at Palace of Sport “Rostov-Don” on Saturday at 16:00 CET live on ehfTV.
