Holstebro want to bring the EHF Cup home again

PREVIEW: Rostov-Don will try and make the impossible possible on Saturday, when they try to bounce back from their 20:33 defeat against the Danish side in the Women's EHF Cup's first leg

Holstebro want to bring the EHF Cup home again

Team Tvis Holstebro are very close to winning the Women´s EHF Cup for the second time in three years.

In the 2012/13 season the Danish team brought home the trophy after defeating Metz Handball and following their 33:20 win at home in the first leg against Rostov-Don in this season's final last weekend, they already have more than a tight grip on the cup again.

It comes as no surprise that Rostov-Don's Danish head coach Jan Leslie expects it to be more than difficult for the Russian champions to bounce back.

“The defeat in Denmark was our first defeat in the EHF Cup this season, and I must say that when it eventually arrived, it was a defeat you noticed!

“We were shocked by ourselves after the first match, and our first aim in the return match is to make a far better appearance.

“It's obvious, that we will have to play a nearly perfect match and almost avoid making mistakes, while Tvis will have to almost collapse completely, if we are to stand a chance to reverse that result,” he said.

Quite naturally, Holstebro coach Niels Agesen is considerably more optimistic.

“I must say that we are very close to winning the EHF Cup again. However, we have been warned once this season that 13 goals are not always enough.

“In our quarter-final against Issy Paris, we won by 13 at home (40:27), only to be 14 down with four minutes left in the away match, before we managed to limit the defeat to 12 (20:32) at the end,” says Niels Agesen.

“I see it as an advantage that we are warned now, but I still expect an extremely difficult match in Russia.

“However, we are obviously the favourites and very close to ending the season in style,” he adds.
