Brasov heading for the semi-final

For the second time within 48 hours did the German teams TuS Metzingen and HC Leipzig meet on Metzingen’s home court.

After Metzingen won the Bundesliga match 26:23 on Wednesday, they took another win Friday night in the EHF Cup.

This time, however, the European debutants from Metzingen had to make do with a narrow 25:24 win in front of 2000 spectators in Paul Horn Arena of Tübingen.

Metzingen only won after a great comeback in the second half, in which they caught up after a 13:9 deficit from half-time and even from being down 23:19 with just 10 minutes left.

Leipzig coach Norman Rentsch was understandably unhappy with the result.

“We had the game under control and the win in our hands,” found Rentsch.

The Scandinavian derby between Danish Randers HK and HK 65 Höörs Handbollsklubb from Sweden appears open before the second leg in Sweden after Randers won a relatively narrowly 30:27 in the first leg.

With 10 goals, right back Camilla Dalby played a great part in the Randers win.

Randers were leading 16:15 at half-time in this more or less equal match, which had been moved from Randers Arena to Ulvehojhallen in the outskirts of the town.

The tie is a meeting between number three in the respective domestic leagues, and after the match, Höör line player Anna Lindberg-Johansson was quite content.

“It became a match with fast handball and plenty of fine passes to the line from both sides.

“This result gives us a fine chance ahead of the return match next Saturday,” found Anna Johansson.

ASC Corona Brasov are extremely close to the semi-final after a convincing 29:21 away win against HC Odense.

The Romanian side were leading 13:10 already at half-time in Odense Idraetshal, and in the second half, the visitors increased their lead even further to win by eight goals.

This lead obviously gives Brasov an enormous advantage ahead of the return match at home next Sunday.

Russian Astrakhanochka and Hungarian Dunaujvarosi Kohasz Kezilabda Akademia need to wait until to next weekend to decide their tie, as they meet in a double header in Hungary.
