Holstebro and Lada qualify for final in convincing style

Team Tvis Holstebro are through to their third European final in three years.

Having won the EHF Cup in 2013 and 2015, it will be the Cup Winners’ Cup for the Danish team this year. Their last opponent is Handball Club Lada, a second-time finalist.

RK Krim Mercator (SLO) vs Handball Club Lada (RUS) 22:27 (46:55 on agg.)

It did not seem to make any difference to Handball Club Lada whether to play at home or away against RK Krim Mercator.

After winning the first leg 28:24, the Russian team went to Slovenia to win the return match even by one goal more.

In front of 1,500 spectators in the Sportna dvorana Kodeljevo in Ljubljana, Lada were leading all the way. After being up 13:9 at half-time they could celebrate a 27:22 win and the ticket for the Cup Winners’ Cup final for the second time in history.

Lada’s two most scoring players were the same as in the first match as left wing Daria Samokhina scored eight goals and playmaker Daria Dmitrieva had seven.

Krim left wing Tamara Mavsar also became the most scoring player for the second match in succession. This time she netted seven goals but that was far from enough to help her team to a final berth.

Team Tvis Holstebro (DEN) vs Issy Paris Hand (FRA) 29:12 (49:36 on agg.)

Holstebro recorded an astonishing 29:12 win at home against Issy Paris Hand in the second leg Sunday evening.

Issy Paris had won the first leg 24:20 but it did not take Holstebro many minutes of the return match in the Gråkjær Arena to catch up with this four-goal difference as they went 4:0 ahead.

Their lead soon increased to 9:1 and 13:4 as the home team did not leave their opponents a chance.

After 14:5 at half-time, Holstebro continued to steamroll the visitors in the last 30 minutes, leading by 18 goals several times.

Swedish right back Natalie Hagman became the most scoring player in the match with seven goals, while Issy had their top scorer in Coralie Lassource with three.
