«Go back »Print Version

Latest round of meetings held in the EHF Office from 21 to 23 April 2016.

April meetings for technical commissions in Vienna

Members of the EHF’s technical commissions met over several days in Vienna (21 to 23 April) in the latest of the year’s scheduled meetings.

Technical Delegation/CAN Advisory Board – based on the working areas defined at their last meeting in February, the chairs of the various technical commissions discussed the implementation of new developments in game administration including goal line technology and instant replay.

A further topic was the new IHF Playing Rules, set to come into force from 1 July 2016, and implications for European competitions in the next season. The first EHF event to be played with the new rules will be the European Open in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Upcoming education courses were highlighted including the 2016 edition of the EHF Club Management Seminar, which will focus on marketing strategies and take place in Cologne on the fringes of the VELUX EHF FINAL4, as well as the second of the European Handball Manager set to begin in October 2016.

Methods Commission – following up on the inputs from the national federations brought up during the Conference for Secretaries General held in Dubrovnik in April and in particular the topic ‘Empowering Grassroots’, the commission discussed the future strategy for the federation’s development projects.

Also confirmed was the creation of a working group for the development of wheelchair handball and in particular the next edition of the European Wheelchair Handball Nations' Tournament.

Competitions Commission – the commission reviewed the successful carrying out of the Men’s EHF EURO 2016 and looked ahead to the summer YAC events, the first carried out under the new playing system and the 2017 women’s events now scheduled for
EHF W17 EURO in Slovakia (Michalovce), EHF W17 Championships in Lithuania (Klaipeda) / FYR Macedonia (Skopje) and EHF W19 EURO in Slovenia (Celje).

Beach Handball Commission - a major topic for the commission was the implementation of the extended match scouting system at future championships.

The positive interest in an education course scheduled to take place in Thessaloniki 18-22 May during the ebt Finals was reported with nine referee pairs, 10 delegates and 40 coaches taking part.

Due to the level of demand from national federations and also the EHF’s own requirements, it was confirmed that a further course will take place in Gran Canaria during the Champions Cup in November.

Next meetings - The final round of meetings in this election period will be held 1-3 September 2016 ahead of the EHF Congress on 17/18 November 2016 where new elections will be held.
