The Court of Handball has reached a decision in a case against the club Metz Handball relating to the behaviour of the club’s announcer during the 2016/17 Women’s EHF Champions League group phase match against HC Vardar played on 5 March 2017.
The official announcer did not follow the delegate’s instructions to remain positioned at the agreed position, instead the announcer went to sit among the fans and fail to deliver announcements of neutral content only.
Indeed, the announcer repeatedly initiated songs in favour of the home club, exhorted the crowd and cheered with the spectators. These occurrences violate the 2016/17 Women’s EHF Champions League Regulations and the Rules on Safety and Security.
In accordance with the list of penalties, the Court of Handball decided to impose a fine of €1,000 on the club.
An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days.
