Pre-season glory, Robbie Williams & Vipers’ hilarious defence training

With the preparation phase drawing to a close, teams from across Europe are putting their new tactics and new players to the test in various warm-up tournaments, while some are enjoying pop concerts and others honing their defensive ‘skills’. Below you can find the social media highlights from last week in the EHF Champions League. Enjoy!

The taste of pre-season gold…

The VELUX EHF Champions League 2015/16 winners KS Vive Tauron Kielce took the top spot at the Handball City Festival organised by Telekom Veszprem HC. The Polish champions saw off the hosts in the final, which acts as a taste for what might go down in Group B of the VELUX EHF Champions League when both sides clash on the big stage. Croatian Manuel Strlek picked up MVP of the event.

Last season’s quarter-finalists MOL-Pick Szeged had their own Group A warm-up as they faced Swedish outfit IFK Kristianstad in the Kanizsa Cup, with the Hungarian team winning 34:28.

Brazilian Mayssa Pessoa has not taken long to pick up silverware with her new club Rostov Don; the Russian side defeated Pessoa’s old club and last season’s Women’s EHF Champions League finalists, HC Vardar 33:26.

In Doha, Qatar, FC Barcelona Lassa made the final of the IHF Super Globe 2017 against Füchse Berlin, eventually winning, and it looks as though newcomer Jure Dolenec is fitting into his role nicely at the eight-time Men’s EHF Champions League winners.

Danish stars meet in Skjern

PSG’s Mikkel Hansen and Henrik Möllgaard team up with Anders Eggert and Kasper Söndergaard for this epic snap before Skjern’s 25th year anniversary match. And it was a friendly tie with a bit of a special feel for PSG-star Möllgaard as he came up against his old club who he played for from 2012 to 2016.

Some new Györ faces hit the photoshoot

Stine Oftedal, Anja Althaus and Anna Mette Hansen are the ‘new girls in class’ and we cannot wait to see what they will bring to the table for the reigning Women’s EHF Champions League champions Györi Audi ETO KC this season.

The art of the attacker’s foul…

With only a matter of days until Vipers Kristiansand’s Women’s EHF Champions League Qualification tournament begins, Linn Jörum Sulland & Co. were perfecting their defensive ‘skills’. Hilarious.

Ljubo is a Robbie fan…

It seems that Robbie Williams has a strong fanbase in Veszprem - well, in the Swedish section at least. Head coach Ljubomir Vranjes and line player Andreas Nilsson kicked back at the concert in the Hungarian capital during the week.

The Robbie Williams show is over and some of us are surprised, guess who! #hungary #budapest #robbiewilliams

A heart-warming birthday wish…

And we will leave you with this heart-felt birthday wish from Dragana Cvijic to Cristina Neagu who turned 29 during the week. Both players left Buducnost this season for new adventures at HC Vardar and CSM Bucuresti respectively.

Happy birthday my friend ❤️
