Draw for Women’s U20 World Championship Qualification takes place on 21 November

The draw for the Women’s U20 World Championship Qualification Europe takes place on 21 November at 11:00 hrs in the EHF Office in Vienna.

30 member federations of the EHF have registered, but with France, Russia and Denmark – the teams ranked 1 to 3 at the Women’s 19 EHF EURO 2017 – and Hungary as organisers of the final tournament already qualified, there 26 teams vying for nine open spots at the World Championship in July next year.

The draw will be streamed live on the ehfTV Youtube channel and the EHF Facebook page. It will be preceded by the Last 16 draw for Women’s Challenge Cup.

The 26 teams in question will be drawn to five groups of four teams each and two groups of three teams each.

From Groups 1 and 2, the first two teams will qualify. From Groups 3 to 7, only the respective first ranked team earns a spot at the final tournament.

The teams have been seeded in three pots

Pot 1: Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Montenegro, Romania, Sweden, Spain, Slovenia, Croatia, Portugal, Serbia, FYR Macedonia

Pot 2: Greece, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine

Pot 3: Czech Republic, Georgia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Kosovo

The qualification tournaments will be played from 23 to 25 March 2018; the Women’s U20 World Championship is scheduled from 1 to 15 July 2018.
