As the European club season has come to an end with the VELUX EHF FINAL4 2018 in Cologne, the focus for the 2017/18 season's finish shifts to national team competitions and beach handball.

The spotlight is on the final rounds of the Women's EHF EURO 2018 Qualification with 28 matches being played from Wednesday, 30 May, to Sunday, 3 June. Besides final tournament hosts France, Norway, Denmark and Montenegro are already qualified which means that 12 places are still up for grabs – and plenty of tension is guaranteed for the final matches.

At the same time, the 2018 IHF/EHF Women's Trophy, an eight-team tournament for Europe's developing handball nations, is played in Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina, from Tuesday, 29 May, to Sunday, 3 June. In Stare Jablonki, Poland, the beach handball season starts in earnest, with the ebt Finals, which sees the best teams from the previous year's European Beach Handball Tour competing, being played from Thursday, 31 May, to Sunday, 3 June.

Overall, this is around 100 hours of European top handball, and fans don't miss a second, as all three tournaments are streamed live on ehfTV, the European Handball Federation's online TV platform.

Historic opportunity for Switzerland

The Women's EHF EURO 2018 Qualification starts with eight matches being played on Wednesday, 30 May. There are several teams which can secure their place at the final tournament in France (29 November to 16 December) on this day.

Spain, who play away against Turkey, Hungary (against Kosovo), Sweden (against FYR Macedonia), Serbia (against Faroe Island) will book the ticket to France 2018, if they win. The same holds true for Switzerland, who face Croatia at home. On top, this marks a historic occasion for the Swiss team, as a successful qualification would mean their first ever participation at an EHF EURO.

Decisions to be made on Sunday

The IHF / EHF Women's EHF Trophy, an eight-nation tournament, lasts for six days and features the teams of Estonia, Moldova, Belgium, Cyprus (all in group A) as well as Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Luxembourg (all in group B).

Following a round-robin group phase, the first two teams of each group qualify for the semi-finals. These will be played on Saturday, 2 June; the final is played on day later.
