EHF Champions League teams up with Nord Stream 2

Ahead of the start of the new Men’s EHF Champions League 2018/19 season, the European Handball Federation’s marketing arm, EHF Marketing GmbH, has signed up a new premium partner.

Managing Director of EHF Marketing GmbH, David Szlezak, said: "Given its popularity across Europe, the EHF Champions League offers an attractive platform to Nord Stream 2 AG. As a premium sponsor, the brand will benefit from extensive exposure during the next two seasons, including the FINAL4 as our benchmark event.”

Nord Stream 2 will be present in the competition for the next two seasons using their slogan EHF Champions League powered by Nord Stream 2.

Ulrich Lissek, Head of Communications and Governmental Relations of Nord Stream 2 AG, added: “We are very happy to extend our selected sports promotion with this two-year sponsorship agreement with EHF Marketing. Handball and most notably the EHF Champions League play an important part especially in Central and Northern Europe, which are also core regions for our project activities.”

About Nord Stream 2 AG

Nord Stream 2 is a planned pipeline through the Baltic Sea, which will transport natural gas over some 1,230 km from the world’s largest gas reserves in Russia via the most efficient route to consumers in Europe. Nord Stream 2 will largely follow the route and technical concept of the successful Nord Stream Pipeline.

The new pipeline will have the capacity to transport 55 billion cubic metres of gas per year, enough to supply 26 million European households. This secure supply of natural gas with its low CO2 emissions will also contribute to Europe’s objective to have a more climate-friendly energy mix with gas substituting for coal in power generation and providing back-up for intermittent renewable sources of energy such as wind and solar power.
