European and International Federations meet at EHF Office in Vienna
EHF and IHF hold joint meeting
The European Handball Federation and their counterparts from the International Handball Federation met at the EHF Office in Vienna on 24 October 2012.
Representing the International Handball Federation were the members of the IHF Executive Committee: President, Dr Hassan Moustafa; Vice President, Miguel Roca Mas; Treasurer, Sandi Sola; Executive Member, Joel Deplanque as well as IHF Managing Director, Amal Khalifa.
The EHF was represented by members of the EHF Finance Delegation, including President, Jean Brihault; Vice President, Arne Elovsson; Treasurer, Ralf Dejaco and Secretary General, Michael Wiederer.
A review of the recent meetings took place, including the IHF calendar meeting – which looked at the coordination of the international calendar from 2013 to 2016 – and also the top nations meeting, attended by Jean Brihault, EHF President, and Michael Wiederer, EHF Secretary General.
The EHF also took the opportunity to present its corporate structure and reported on the recently held meetings of both the newly constituted Women’s Handball Board and the Professional Handball Board.
Areas of cooperation on the agenda included beach handball, development and the IHF Trophy competitions.
Additional topics discussed were the situation of Great Britain and its constituent federations in England and Scotland as well as the status of Kosovo, where the IHF and EHF agreed to jointly approach the IOC for further clarification.
The meeting took place in an open, positive and productive atmosphere with an exchange of information and ideas from both sides as the two organisation look to cooperate on a range of common issues.
