Porto take third win out of three

After scoring 12 goals against Liberbank Cuenca last weekend, Magnus Bramming scored 14 this time, but for the second weekend in succession, it was not enough to save his Holstebro side from defeat as Porto continued their perfect record in Group C.

  • Magnus Bramming scored 14 goals for Holstebro
  • Antonio Rodrigues struck six times for Portuguese team
  • Porto are on top of Group C with six points, Holstebro stay on two

GROUP C
TTH Holstebro (DEN) vs FC Porto Sofarma (POR) 31:33 (15:17)

Porto had to work hard for their third win in a row with this match not decided until Miguel Soares Martins made it 33:31 with nine seconds left.

Despite missing both their normal right backs - Peter Balling and Kay Smits - due to injury, Danish side Holstebro were able to keep the match equal for nearly all 60 minutes against the Portuguese top team who had won both their previous EHF Cup matches.

In the first half, never more than two goals separated the teams, and most of the time, the distance was only one goal, but Porto opened the second half by going three goals ahead, only to see Holstebro bounce back to make it all-equal at 23:23 (41st minute).

The rest of the match remained deadlocked with Magnus Andersson’s Porto playing seven against six, while Holstebro moved Bramming from the left wing to the left back, where he was just as dangerous.

But Porto were that bit smarter and that was enough to earn them the win in the end.
