2015 World Championship hosts announced

On the occasion of the 22nd Men’s Handball World Championships in Sweden, the IHF announced the hosts of the 2015 World Championships for women and men.

In front of more than 100 media representatives in Malmö, IHF President Dr. Hassan Moustafa awarded Denmark (women) and Qatar (men) as organizing countries for the events.

After Korea had withdrawn their bid for the women’s tournament, Denmark remained as the only bidding candidate. The men’s tournament had four bidding federations, Qatar, Norway, France and Poland.

After the four bids presentations to the IHF Council this morning, IHF President Moustafa said: “All four presentations were very good. It was a very close decision between four top handball nations.”

The IHF President did not cast his vote, only the Council members decided.
