Beach handball a sure entry for Mediterranean Beach Games

When the first Mediterranean Beach Games take place in June 2013, beach handball will definitely be among the 18 different sports showcased at the inaugural event.

24 countries are eligible to send athletes to the Games and with 15 of them also being member federations of the European Handball Federation, European beach handball has gained another possibility to present itself on international sports stage.

Furthermore George Bebetsos, member of the EHF Beach Handball Commission and in that role responsible for the promotion and development of the sport, had been asked by the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games' Technical Committee to prepare the first draft of a feasibility study to the ICMG Executive Council.

The other sports included in the programme for the Games are: sea rowing, beach badminton, sea canoeing, beach football, kayak polo, beach wrestling, fin swimming (swimming pool), open water swimming, sports fishing, beach rugby, water ski & wakeboard, surfing, beach tennis, triathlon, sailing and beach volleyball.

A decision for the organiser of the first Mediterranean Beach Games is scheduled to be announced in June 2013. The event will then take place every four years.
