Defending champions Frisch Auf Göppingen enter EHF Cup in Round 3

The road to a successful title defence for German side Frisch Auf Göppingen in the Men's EHF Cup starts in four months when the competition's third round is played on 19/20 and 26/27 November.

The defending champions are one of 63 teams (including nine teams coming from the VELUX EHF Champions League Qualification) that will vie for the title, according to the EHF's playing system and seeding list for the EHF Cup that has been released on Tuesday.

30 teams have to start at the very beginning in Qualification Round 1 (Playing dates 3/4 and 10/11 September); the fifteen winners will join another 17 teams that have been seeded for Qualification Round 2 (8/9 and 15/16 October).

16 teams then make it to Qualification Round 3 for which another 16 have been seeded already, which means that 32 clubs overall vie for a place in the competition's group phase.

Also the third team of the last EHF Cup Finals, Fraikin BM Granollers, start in the third round as well as the 2002 EHF Champions League winners SC Magdeburg.

The draw for Qualification Rounds 1 and 2 of the Men's EHF Cup will take place in Vienna on 19 July at the EHF Office.

At the same time the seeding list and playing for the Men's Challenge Cup has been released.

32 teams overall start in the competition and all of them in the third round as there are no matches in Round 1 and 2. The defending champions of ABC/UMinho will take part in the VELUX EHF Champions League Qualification this time around.

The Round 3 playing dates are 19/20 and 26/27 November. The draw will also take place on 19 July at the EHF Office in Vienna.
