EHF Arbitration decision

The Arbitration Tribunal has dealt with the case of the 2008/2009 Women’s Challenge Cup semi-final 2nd leg match between Izmir BSB SK (TUR) and Thüringer HC (GER) played on 19 April 2009, in Izmir, Turkey.

The EHF Arbitration Tribunal has sanctioned the Turkish club, Izmir BSB SK, with a fine of €1,000 due to improper conduct of persons under the responsibility of the club towards the EHF Officials

The EHF Arbitration Tribunal found that presents (leather jackets) offered to and refused by the EHF Officials were gifts in excess of what is appropriate in connection with an EHF representation. Offering such gifts may bring the integrity, fairness and objectivity of the EHF Officials into questions and may bring the sport of handball into disrepute.

The cooperation of the club Izmir BSB SK and its good faith were taken into consideration when defining the sanction.
