The 2008 Women’s European Championship will take place in FYR Macedonia from 2 to 14 December 2008. The preliminary round will be played in the cities of Skopje (groups A and D) and Ohrid (groups B and C), with the main round in Skopje (groups C and D) and Ohrid (groups A and B) and the final weekend in Skopje.

Heads of Delegations Conference

Representatives from the participating teams travelled to Skopje between the 3 to 5 October 2008 to take part in the EHF EURO 2008 “Heads of Delegations Conference”.  In the first part of the conference, technical details and competition information was provided to the participants by the EHF.

In the second part of the programme, the MKD OC gave an overview of what they have organised so far.  They outlined procedures and answered questions with regards to hotels, transport, team guides and individual requirements of the respective delegations. 

On Sunday 5th October the MKD OC invited the participants on tours of the playing venues and hotels in both Skopje and Ohrid that will be used for the championship.

Fyr Macedonian government committed to EHF EURO 2008

High-profile representatives of the Republic of Macedonian Government, Macedonian Handball Federation and the European Handball Federation met in Skopje on Tuesday 7th October to underline the EURO 2008 commitment and the spirit of the forthcoming event which will take place in Skopje and Ohrid from 2 – 14 December 2008.

The Prime Minister of MKD, Mr. Nikola Gruevski and EURO 2008 Chairman, Jean Brihault, signed a Universal Charter embracing the EURO event, the commitment of organisation and duties to the European Handball Family.

By becoming signatory to the Charter, the Republic of Macedonia states its full financial support to the Macedonian Handball Federation to guarantee the implementation of all requirements according to the bidding documents and the Contract of Organisation. This also includes the professional production of a TV signal, which will send EURO 2008 into the home of millions across Europe. MKRTV is the Host Broadcaster of the event and will receive full backing by the government
